Hey There. I’m Shelby.

My family and I live in the foothills of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, amidst many peaks and pines. My daughter says we “live in a forest.” She’s not wrong.

I’m one of those strange people that is equally left and right-brained. My undergraduate degree is in Computer and Information Science, with minors in Creative Writing and Spanish. (See? I was all over the place!) My graduate work is in Digital Media Studies. I am very organized and logical, but I am also creative and messy, and I love the way technology and art combine to create something that is both structured and wild. Some would say this is a flaw…that I’m not “all in” in the artsy world. I see it as a benefit. I’m not afraid of technical or mathematical concepts. I can take creativity across all disciplines and help bring vision to perceived chaos. I’ve worked with large aerospace companies, producing and editing videos, and I’ve helped non-profits figure out who they are and how to design graphic and communication materials to represent their values. I believe I have a unique perspective that can bridge the gaps within companies, both large and small.

I’m a 1w2, if you’re an Enneagram fan. I’m an INFJ, if you’re in the Myers-Briggs club. I love word pictures and exploring language. I love white space and clean lines.

I’m a wife and mother and homeschool teacher, and I started Peaks & Pines Design with my family in mind. This allows me to balance my home and my work, and I love that I get to do both. I admire playful sarcasm and witty retorts. I delight in good design, snowboarding, martial arts (…can I throw you?), and I am inspired by courage, honesty, integrity, and love. I am a follower of Christ, but not the stereotype portrayed in mainstream media. I know I’ve got a lot to learn, and the older I get, the more my growing kids help me see what a flawed human being I am. (Lol!)

There are just a few things I hate…

Comic Sans. Bad grammar. Raisins. Formalwear. Disingenuous people. Photos of me. The list is pretty small, actually. Life is too short for hate.

If you’ve checked out my portfolio and you want to partner together on a project, let me know. I’d love to get to know you and help tell your story, as well.
